MHT Members: The website has been hacked!  Any contact you have made with the site is protected by our security certificate and this hack will not affect you.  However, damage has been done to the site and we could only restore the site to the July date below, losing all of the data entered since then.  Since our official season had ended with Stoatin Brae, I won’t attempt to reconstruct the site.  We will decide on the site’s viability at our winter meeting.

Thanks for your understanding.

July 12, 2020

The first event of the delayed MHT season has been played!  The MHT Matchplay was a great success and a welcome event for Michigan hickory players.  See the brief story under the “News” heading.

June 19 ,2020

An invitation was sent out today for two MHT events in July!  On July 12 at noon, our usual opening event, the MHT Match Play will take place at Sharp Park in Jackson.  On Sunday July 19, the Washington Hickory will take place at Rattle Run Golf Course near ST. Clair, MI.  Both sites have been vetted regarding Covid-19 precautions and both will provide single rider carts if required.  Please contact the MHT at hillgolf@comcast.net to reserve your spot in either event and inform the MHT of your cart requirements.  Typical Covid-19 player precautions should include bringing your own disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer along with masks for clubhouse entry if needed.  We have finally reached the hickory golf season!

May 8, 2020

As of this week, the governor’s executive order now allows golf  with social distancing and golf carts for all who want them.  Courses MUST provide social distancing in and around clubhouses and on the course.  Many of a course’s employees will now be allowed to go back to their jobs.  Food and beverage service remains carry out only.  Please visit the MHT calendar page on this site for the current MHT schedule and visit often as the rules continue to change.

April 5, 2020

As all golfers in Michigan know by now, the Governor has put a stop to golf in Michigan for the next month. The MHT hopes that you will all abide by this decision (unless an existing petition drive, or other action by the governor, causes an amendment of the order) and stay at home and stay safe.  We’re told that the next couple of weeks are critical to slowing down the progress of the virus and I hope you will all take appropriate action.

As a result of the order, and in consultation with Jim Hannen, organizer of May’s first event in Jackson, I have decided to move the Match Play event from May 3 to July 12..  Since the Marshall event was already cancelled, I’ve decided to not try to schedule a replacement event in it’s place, leaving May empty of MHT events.  If the situation turns around quickly and or the order is modified or lifted, I will quickly try to schedule something before the end of May.

As far as I know, events beginning in June and throughout the summer are all still on.  If you have any other information or suggestions about the schedule, please let me know at michiganht@gmail.com.  Please consult the “Calendar” page on this website for up the to-the-minute schedule.

Stay safe and we’ll be back on the course soon.
