Sunday July 12, a beautiful Michigan Summer day, provided a perfect stage for the long-awaited first event of the Michigan Hickory Tour’s 2020 season.
17 players arrived in Jackson at noon to start the MHT season with our traditional opening event, the MHT Match Play, presented by Jim Hannen. The event had been postponed from May due to concerns about Covid-19 exposure, but the MHT members came prepared to socially distance, wear masks and socialize with safety in mind.
Five groups played six hole matches within their groups to determine a group winners. The winners then played off in a knockout chip off with Bill Tucholski winning the 2020 Match Play championship. Social distancing and masks were the order of the day at a brief social gathering outside at the clubhouse and the traditional wooden watch was presented to Bill Tucholski by last year’s winner Lloyd Slinglend and organizer Jim Hannen.
A great first event for the Michigan Hickory Tour!
